Inspiration…

I recently saw a you tube video of an artist painting which is common on you tube but I was fascinated by the gray background she used.

This is nothing new in art but for some reason it clicked for me.  I painted some new work with the gray base and fell in love.  The gessoed surface is very absorbent which takes the paint differently and the gray keeps your darks in check.  It also creates a depth I really like particularly in the sky.  Here are some new paintings using the gray…
